850 Super Single
The 850 Super Single blends the performance of a twin-disk with the drivability of a single-disk in a lightweight and compact package. This is the clutch we use on our in-house B8 S4 autocross car. All-in this clutch/FW weighs 32.5 lbs, making it lighter than any other mainstream kit, even those with aluminum flywheels. On top of that, the smaller diameter of the pressure plate, clutch disk, and the top of the flywheel makes the rotational moment of inertia even lower, meaning this kit robs the engine of the least amount of power and provides the quickest revs.
The Strapped version comes with a special pressure plate that makes it more streetable.
This clutch is basically the 850 Twin with one of the discs removed. In its place is a clever aluminum spacer that adds very little mass while keeping the overall package size the same. The result is a more drivable single-disk clutch that still holds all the torque you can throw at it. Our 4.0T-swapped S4 on 335 slicks has NEVER been able to break this clutch loose.
The bronze ceramic disk is sprung and nearly full-faced, making for much smoother engagement characteristics than a pucked design. The clutch is certainly grabby, and the pedal is on the heavy side, so we donβt recommend this for people commonly sitting in traffic, but itβs a great option for those spending a lot of time on the track who still want to be able to drive the car home or slip the clutch pulling it onto the trailer after an event.
In addition, it comes with Clutch Masterβs hydraulic throw-out bearing, which provides perfect clutch feel and the most direct disengagement characteristics possible. This replaces the clutch slave line, slave cylinder, and clutch fork. It comes with a union fitting that lands just outside the transmission, so you can drop the transmission without disconnecting the line at the master.
850 Twin
The Twinβs engagement is slightly more harsh than the Super Single, but still very drivable.
The Strapped version comes with a special pressure plate that makes it more streetable.
